Training practice

Churchdown Surgery is proud to be developing as a healthcare training hub. We welcome GP trainees and foundation doctors to our team for periods of 4 to 12 months. These trainees are fully qualified doctors who are undertaking further specialist training in General Practice and bring a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the practice. We also teach medical students who come to us for shorter placements to experience work outside of hospital. The practice also welcomes other trainees such as nurses and paramedics, in addition to occasional 6th form students preparing to study medicine at university. All trainees undertake an appropriate induction programme, are carefully supervised by a fully trained member of staff and are expected to respect patient confidentiality.

Dr Agombar, Dr Wilson and Dr Mupfupi are approved GP trainers. However, all the practice staff assist with supervising and supporting trainees and medical students.

Sometimes you may be asked if a GP trainee or medical student could be present during a consultation, or if the consultation may be recorded on video. Observation of consultations is required for training purposes and this is a valuable learning experience for trainees. If you prefer this not to happen then please let us know. Your wishes with be respected and this will not affect the care you receive.

The recording, processing and storage of the consultation will comply with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and is in line with guidance of the General Medical Council.
