Patient Participation Group

We are patients who volunteer to work with the Churchdown Surgery team. We help with ensuring the best possible outcomes for all patients and practice staff.

What do we do?

We help with the development and delivery of the GP practice services, including;

  • Providing the patient perspective on the range and quality of services;
  • Contributing to GP Practice decisions;
  • Supporting and building a two-way relationship between patients and Churchdown Surgery
  • Working to influence the provision of health services in Gloucestershire;
  • Having two-way communication with NHS Gloucestershire and the Practice;
  • Promoting the needs of the community within Churchdown Surgery
  • Supporting activities that encourage preventative medicine and healthy lifestyle choices;
  • Sharing news of the work of Churchdown Surgery and PPG with the community
  • Contributing to the Churchdown Surgery website, social media, posters and leaflets.
  • Working to build a PPG membership that best represents our patient community

Who Can Join the PPG?

Any registered patient of Churchdown Surgery over the age of 18 may become a member of the PPG.  Our PPG aims to include various ages, experiences, backgrounds and a variety of views.

Who represents Churchdown Surgery?

A senior representative of the Surgery team will attend all meetings.  Other members of the surgery team may attend from time to time.

How often does the PPG meet?

We aim to meet every other month between 18:00 and 19:00.  Where face to face meetings are not possible, the Group meets using video call technology.

Meetings rely on the workload and availability of the Surgery team. The Surgery’s senior representative and PPG Chairperson decide the meeting schedule.

Plans

  • Grow the Patient Participation Group diversity and membership.
  • Develop the Patient Participation Group information on the surgery website.
  • Work with the surgery to enhance the surgery website and surgery newsletters to help make them more patient friendly.
  • Work with the surgery to improve communication both with patients and the surgery
  • Assist the surgery in the development of social prescribing. Social prescribers help GPs to refer people to community services. Community services can often help medical solutions.
