Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. Many tasks, such as health reviews can be done using our online forms.

Respiratory Services

Our nurses provide comprehensive management for respiratory conditions, including asthma, COPD, and spirometry (lung function testing). Regular monitoring and treatment are available for patients with these conditions.

Blood tests

Blood tests are carried out by our phlebotomist and healthcare assistants. If you have had a blood test, you can call us 7 days after your test to obtain your results through our administration team. Please call 01452 899762 and select the option to go through to results.

Cervical smears

We participate in the national computerized cervical recall system. Routine cervical smears are recommended every three years for women aged 25–49, and every five years for those aged 50–64.

Childhood immunisations

We offer childhood immunisation appointments as part of the NHS immunisation programme. You will receive a letter from the health authority advising when your child is due for their routine immunisations. If you have any concerns or missed an appointment, please contact the surgery to book an appointment with one of our practice nurses.

Diabetic clinic

Our diabetic specialist nurses lead clinics to provide regular monitoring and treatment for patients with diabetes. The surgery works closely with Gloucestershire Royal Hospital diabetic services, including annual retinal eye screening.

For more information regarding diabetes please visit www.diabetes.org.uk or make an appointment with our diabetic nurse. The practice works closely with Gloucestershire Royal Hospital diabetic services, which includes annual retinal eye screening using digital photography.

Ear syringing

Ear syringing is performed by our healthcare assistants, but patients must first try self-care options. If these are unsuccessful, ear irrigation can be provided on the advice of the hospital service. For more information on self-care and earwax management, please visit Patient.info – Earwax for guidelines.

ECG recording and hearing tests (audiograms)

ECG recordings are performed by our healthcare assistants at the request of the doctors.

Family planning

We offer a full range of contraceptive services, including emergency contraception (e.g., the “morning after” pill). Nurse Clare and Dr. Quinn both fit and remove intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUCDs), and implants can be fitted and removed by our practice nurses. To discuss any of these services, please book a telephone consultation with a nurse or doctor before booking an appointment.

Joint and Steroid injections

We offer joint injections to manage pain and inflammation, including for conditions such as osteoarthritis and shoulder impingement. Steroid injections are available for various joints, including the knees, shoulders, and for conditions like trochanteric bursitis and trigger finger. Please contact reception for more information and to book an appointment.

Leg ulcer clinic

We provide a dedicated leg ulcer clinic to ensure effective treatment, led by both the practice and district nursing teams.

Medication requiring regular blood tests

The phlebotomists and healthcare assistants will undertake the taking of blood for patients requiring this service.

Minor surgery

Minor surgical procedures are available by referral from a doctor. Our doctors also provide cryotherapy for warts and other lesions.

Other Vaccinations

Pneumococcal Vaccine

The pneumococcal vaccine is recommended for individuals at higher risk of serious illness, such as babies, adults over 65, and those with certain long-term health conditions (e.g., heart disease, kidney disease). People aged 65 and over only require a single dose of this vaccine. It is not administered annually like the flu vaccine.

If you’re eligible for the pneumococcal vaccination, please contact the surgery for more information.

Influenza Vaccine

The flu vaccine is offered annually to individuals who are at higher risk, including those over 65, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic health conditions. Please contact the surgery to book your flu vaccination.

Shingles Vaccine

The shingles vaccine is available for individuals aged 70 and 78. If you were previously eligible but missed out on the vaccination (born on or after September 2, 1942), you can still receive it up until your 80th birthday. The vaccine is not available for individuals over the age of 80, as it is less effective in this age group. Please contact reception to check your eligibility.

RSV Vaccine

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccination is available for infants and older adults at higher risk of severe illness. Pregnant women over 28 weeks gestation may also be eligible for the RSV vaccine, which is provided through your midwife. Please speak to your midwife for more information and to check your eligibility.

Mental capacity assessments

GPs may conduct mental capacity assessments for patients related to medical treatments and investigations. However, assessments for legal purposes (e.g., regarding finances or property) are typically handled by specialists and are not provided by the surgery. These assessments may be available privately for a fee, through professionals like solicitors or psychiatrists.
