Nursing Team
At Churchdown Surgery, we are proud of our dedicated and highly skilled nursing team. Comprising a mix of Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants (HCAs), and our Phlebotomist, we are committed to delivering patient-centred care tailored to your individual needs. Healthcare assistants support practice nurses with their daily work and carry out tasks such as phlebotomy (drawing blood), blood pressure measurement and new patient checks. They may act as a chaperone when a patient or doctor requests one.

Surgery partner/prescribing pharmacist
Ziad is our lead general practice pharmacist, who has been practising for 20 years and has experience in general practice, community pharmacy, the NHS and intermediate care centres throughout Gloucestershire. Ziad can help with any medication concerns/questions and specialises in cardiovascular disease, as well as helping patients on lots of medications to ensure they are only taking what they need.

Community midwives
Midwifery clinics are held on Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday afternoons at the surgery for routine antenatal care.The doctors will see patients for their postnatal check. Community midwives are based at Gloucester Hospital but hold antenatal clinics at the surgery weekly.
The support and care provided for women in the antenatal period also includes parent craft classes. They conduct home deliveries and provide postnatal care and support for a maximum of 28 days if necessary. The midwives can be contacted on 03004 225 128.
Community nurses
The district nursing team provides care for patients who are housebound or have a nursing need that makes a home visit appropriate. They provide a wide range of nursing skills, advice and support to both patients and carers. The team are based at Stokes Hay Nursing Base and can be contacted via the surgery or on 01452 712 975 (answerphone).
Health visitors
The health visitors are based at Stokes Hay District Nurses Base, Cheltenham Road East, Churchdown, Gloucester. GL3 1HX. They give advice on healthy living, particularly to families with children of pre-school age.
They undertake routine developmental assessments of children and be contacted on 01452 859 901 Monday to Friday between 9am and 4:30pm.
