GIS, which provides community equipment to help people live safely and independently at home, is asking for items are no longer needed to be returned to GIS so that they can be recycled to help someone else. COVID-19 has caused a significant increase in the need for vital community medical equipment as more people have been discharged from hospitals to be cared for in the community. Whilst this has helped to free up beds within the NHS, it has increased demand for the equipment needed for people to live safely at home.
Along with all community equipment providers both in the UK and worldwide, GIS is currently being impacted by issues in the supply chain leading to a shortage of some items. If you are using equipment with a GIS barcode which isn’t needed anymore, please call 01452 520438 or email GISHealthcareCustomerServ@gloucestershire.gov.uk to #HandItBack .
